What to post every week on your hotel Instagram

A 30-day calendar with the five content types that fill rooms, and how long it really takes to shoot them.

3 min read

The problem is rarely a lack of ideas: it is not having a framework. Five content types on rotation carry a whole month without improvising.

Destination: the content that reaches people who do not follow you.

The five types

1. The destination, not the hotel

Guests choose the place first and where to sleep second. Show the sunset, the empty beach at 6 AM, the road, the food in town. This is the content that brings new reach.

2. The room as it is

An honest walkthrough, without a wide lens that lies. The view from the bed, the bathroom, the terrace. This content does not go viral, but it closes bookings.

3. Frequently asked questions

How to get there, hot water, pets, what breakfast includes, signal. Every doubt you answer on video is one message less to reply to and one booking less that falls through.

4. People

The team, the cook, the person at reception. The face behind the hotel builds more trust than any render.

5. Social proof

Real reviews, guest photos (with permission), moments from last season.

Daily stories: what is happening now, unproduced.

A 30-day calendar

With four posts a week:

  • Monday: destination (reel).
  • Wednesday: frequently asked question (short reel or carousel).
  • Friday: room or a concrete plan with price (carousel).
  • Sunday: people or social proof (photo or highlight).

Stories every day: two or three, unproduced. Whatever is happening right now.

How long it actually takes

A half-day shoot once a month covers all 16 posts if you go in with a closed shot list. Without a list, the day disappears and you come back with material you cannot use.

Take a shot list: sunrise, made bed in an empty room, breakfast served, empty pool, reception, a local texture detail, the road in, sunset.

A post with a plan and a price closes; a landscape post reaches.

How to shoot a month in half a day

The difference between coming back with material and coming back with random photos is the shot list. Ours, in order, to use the light:

  1. 6:00 AM. Sunrise, the empty beach or garden, fresh coffee. Light you cannot fake.
  2. 8:00 AM. Breakfast served, with someone serving. No lonely plates.
  3. 10:00 AM. Rooms made, one per type: entrance, bed, bathroom, view from the window.
  4. Midday. Pool and common areas. Harsh light, but this is when the place looks alive.
  5. 4:00 PM. Activities: the tour, the hike, the kayak.
  6. 5:30 PM. Sunset. Two or three long, steady shots: the most shared ones.

Shoot vertical, keep the phone steady, and cut clips of 5 to 8 seconds. Ten good clips make a reel; one long take does not.

What to write in the caption

Three lines, not three paragraphs. Line one: the concrete thing (where it is, what you see). Line two: the useful detail (what is included, how much, when). Line three: what to do (message us on WhatsApp). Hashtags at the end, and few: five destination tags beat thirty generic ones.

And at the end of the month, the numbers that matter.

What does not work

  • Posting only promotions. People do not follow a hotel to see discounts.
  • Stock photos. They are obvious and they break trust.
  • Travel-brochure copy from 2010: “Come and enjoy an unmatched paradise”.
  • Posting and not replying. An unanswered comment is a lost booking.
